Diane (Diana) McCorkel
DV victim alleged the arresting officer's report contained "inconsistencies and outright falsehoods," that Bryant had lied to her about the city prosecutor and court system, and that when she asked Sgt. Barnes to look into it Bryant "refuted all my statements" and she was treated "like I had made the whole thing up."
- Corporal Adam Bryant
- Sergeant Bob Summers (supervisor)
What the file shows
McCorkel had to escalate to Washington State Representative John Lovick to get anyone at LSPD to open an administrative review. Rep. Lovick forwarded her constituent email to Chief Dyer on April 28, 2021. The IAPro file was opened the next day.
Sgt. Valvick was assigned. McCorkel did not return the written statement form — and on June 2, 2021, Deputy Chief Beazizo (Acting Chief) closed the file on that basis: "Chief's Review (Acting Chief) completed - Citizen never returned complaint statement or contacted us. Case is closed." Bryant was logged with "Unsatisfactory Job Performance — No Complaint - Info Only."
Sgt. Summers — listed as the supervisor on the underlying DV call — is the same supervisor who two months later would be placed on a PIP for the failures in OPS 2020-0031, and who would be Marshall's supervisor on the 2022 Bloom PC analysis.
Why this file matters
A DV victim who had to go to her state representative to get LSPD to even open a review still saw her complaint closed for not returning the form. The arresting officer was never interviewed on the record about the alleged falsehoods in his report.
